WHAT TO EXPECT
Rooted Retreat is an exciting 3-day, 2-night retreat designed to help students lay a strong foundation for their college experience at Sam Houston. Throughout the weekend, students will participate in inspiring worship sessions, engaging teaching, and focused breakout discussions on key topics. They will also spend time with their "family groups" for deeper community building and spiritual growth. The retreat offers an opportunity to meet local churches and ministries at the Ministry Fair, allowing students to learn about ways to get involved. Between sessions, there’s downtime to explore Huntsville, enjoy recreational activities, and unwind. The second night also features a fun themed party, adding an extra element of excitement to the retreat. It’s the perfect way to start your college journey—rooted in faith and community!

...like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. Psalm 1:3
Starting college can be intimidating. There's a lot of new and a lot of unknown...
Rooted Retreat exists to help you start strong and on a solid foundation. We know you have a place in Huntsville and we want to help you find it. We're here to connect you to other freshmen, and to upperclassmen who have been in your shoes and who want to walk alongside you. We want to equip you with knowledge to help you navigate college well, but more than that, a deeper understanding and love of the Lord that will be your true foundation. We want you to leave the retreat with confidence in where the Lord has placed you, connected to Christ-centered community, and equipped to make an impact during your college career and for the rest of your life.

PARTNERS
Our partnerships with local churches and ministries are so vital, not only for our mission statement but also for the success of this retreat. A goal of this retreat is to expose new students to churches and campus ministries before school even starts. These churches and ministries are doing wonderful things and we want to show how important it is for them to all be united in the body of Christ.
